Camposol D Community and Gardening Group, Camposol Urbanisation
Improving and providing a better environment on Camposol D Sector
Background
Founded in 2009, the Camposol D Gardening and Community Group (Group) continues to go from strength to strength. The Group provides a range of social and service facilities for the residents on sector D of the urbanisation. This includes: social events such as the annual street party and four gardening teams that maintain the private road verges and gardens.
The Group is also building a strong approach to community cohesion, with community run events such as the annual Carol service, a number of sports activities run by affiliate group, Camposol Free Community Sports (CFCS) and a focus on strengthening its relationship with Mazarrón Town Council so residents on D have a stronger voice.
The Group have a Facebook presence and a website is due be launched in early 2024: www.dgardeningandcommunity.com.
Events & fundraising
Each year a range of events are provided for residents such as the D Street Party, one of the largest events on Camposol with over 150 residents from all sectors attending and The Summer Ball, the most popular events on the D group’s calendar. Not forgetting the Carol service to provide that festive feel to D Sector
The prime source of funding is through the weekly bucket collection at the D group hut at the boundary between C and D sector. The bucket collection is open from 9.30 to 11.00 am each Friday. Once a month a bucket collection is held to fund projects, again at the D hut from 9.00 to 10.30 am.
Fundraising events are run to fund projects and general funding for the Group. This includes Quiz nights, raffles and events.
Residents can also donate to D Group through the PayPal button on the website.
Gardening Teams
To keep D sector looking green and vibrant D Group has 4 gardening teams;
The Monday team that maintains the verges and garden areas along Calle Esparraguera and Frangulas.
The Wednesday team responsible for the upkeep of the Memorial garden, Cross and gateway areas at the entrance to D, the Lone garden and Petanca area at the bottom of Calle Piteras.
The Sunday team is the first of the local team to be established and maintain the verges at the top of Avenida de los Covachos. It is planned to launch more local groups going forward.
A further ambition is to launch a monthly Litter Picking team to clean and litter pick the private roads, gardens and verges. A decision on the cleaning of bin areas is being debated and may be included in the work schedule. The plan is to launch the team in February 2024.
Development Projects
Importantly there is a focus on developing the environment on D Sector and recent projects have included the creation of off-road bin storage areas, refurbished cross and gateway embankment at the entrance to D. Ongoing is the upkeep of the lone garden, the largest garden and off road trails on Camposol.
