November 9 Fando y Lys at the seafront auditorium in Aguilas
The prestigious Paco Rabal Amateur Dramatics season continues at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena in Águilas
Fando y Lys is a play penned by Spanish dramatist and literary figure Fernando Arrabal, who was born in the Spanish north African enclave of Melilla and then settled in France, leading to his describing himself as "desterrado", or "half-expatriate”. He is widely known as a pioneer of “panic theatre”, mixing love, desperation, surrealism, violence and hypocrisy in a pessimistic view, and in this work his portrayal of gender violence is still a very current topic.
This performance is offered within the 20th annual Paco Rabal Amateur Dramatics season by the Grupo Sur a Sur theatre company from Sevilla and begins at 20.30 in the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena in Águilas. Tickets are available online here for 8 and 10 euros, or alternatively at the local archaeological museum, the Casa de la Cultura and at the box office of the auditorium from 1 hour before the curtain rises.
If visiting Águilas your first port of call should be the local tourist office (click here for map, telephone 968 493285, email turismo@aguilas.es).
