Playa de los Jesuitas-Cala Rincón, Pilar de la Horadada
Full facilities for the disabled just a few hundred yards from the centre of La Torre de Horadada
The Playa de los Jesuitas, also known as the Playa de Punta del Gato, is part of a long run of beaches stretching from Cala Redonda to Playa del Conde and the headline on which the Torre de la Horadada sits, hardly separated from the Cala Rincón area by any natural headlands: In other words, one beach runs into the next without any clear boundary.
Located just to the north of the centre of La Torre de la Horadada, it offers a range of services to visitors including beach bar and sun lounger hire, and is very busy during the summer months. Particularly popular among families with young children it also has sports facilities for young people and there is a lifeguard vantage point to guarantee safe bathing. This point is manned every day from mid-June to mid-September as well as during Easter Week, and at weekends from 15th September to 15th October.
The water is clear and the beach is 404 metres long and 20 metres wide, so that even at the height of summer you won’t have any problems finding a patch of golden sand on which to plant your sunshade for a day by the Mediterranean. At the far end where the beach runs into
The beach is adjacent to the Pueblo Latino, where there are plenty of small shops and bars which are ideal for a quiet drink or a bite to eat. Parking can be a problem here in the height of summer as there is only a small car park right next door and space is at a premium in the residential areas nearby, but the beach is only a 200-metre walk from the area around the watchtower of La Torre de la Horadada, where the constant turnover of shoppers means that spaces frequently become available.
The best way to reach the beach is to head for the centre of La Torre and then veer north along the shore.
Although it is located beneath the level of the road along the front there is a ramp down to the sand by the central beach bar, and special toilets and amphibious bathing chairs are available for the wheelchair-bound.
This is a Blue Flag beach.
