Relief is coming from the sweltering nights: Alicante weather forecast September 1-4
The end of the meteorological summer is expected to bring slightly cooler nights at last
Sunny all over today
While the rest of Spain is set to cool down significantly today, temperatures along most of the Costa Blanca are going to be similar to yesterday or even a bit hotter, according to the national agency specialising in this field, Aemet.
September 1 is also the start of the big storm season and the Mediterranean Sea is very warm at the moment, making this more likely, but there is nothing on the radar yet.
Monday, September 1
Still warm summery temperatures this afternoon
The high cloud this morning will soon dissipate and give way to mostly clear skies all day across Alicante province.
Minimum temperatures will be relatively unchanged from yesterday, while maximums will be slightly higher in the south near the coast and slightly lower inland.
There will be light to moderate westerly and north-westerly winds, the westerly component warming the air.
Alicante city is set to reach 35ºC, Elche and Orihuela 34ºC, Denia 32ºC and Alcoy 30ºC.
Tuesday, September 2
High cloud across the province
A cloudier start to the day is expected tomorrow, and there could even be the odd isolated shower or storm on the coast, while some high cloud is likely throughout the day all over the province.
Temperatures will also drop by a few degrees, particularly at night when minimums near the coast are set to be a relatively fresh 20ºC, a welcome relief from the seemingly endless tropical nights throughout the summer.
The good news is that these lower nighttime temperatures are predicted to stay all week.
The highest temperature in the day will be in Orihuela city, 34ºC, but along the coast and inland it is likely to be around 30-31ºC.
Light variable breezes in the morning may become moderately stronger and predominantly southerly in the afternoon, making it feel warmer.
Wednesday, September 3
Much sunnier skies on Wednesday
Wednesday is looking much sunnier and a bit warmer, with highs of 31ºC in Alicante and Alcoy, 32ºC in Denia and Elche, and 33ºC in Orihuela.
Right on the coast in the south and around Benidorm it is only likely to reach about 29ºC and 28ºC respectively.
Winds are expected to remain very light, with some moderate intervals in the afternoon and mostly variable, but more from the south near the coast.
Thursday, September 4
Highs and lows for Thursday
The skies should remain mostly clear or with a few clouds on Thursday, although inland it may get cloudier in the late afternoon and there may be the odd shower.
Temperatures shouldn’t change much or may rise slightly, and the light winds may become moderate from the middle of the day, predominantly from the east along the coast.
At this stage it looks as though it may be cloudier over the weekend.
