Saurines de La Torre Golf Course
All about the golf course on the Las Terrazas de la Torre resort
The 18-hole par 72 golf course of Las Terrazas de la Torre, also known as the “Saurines” course, is part of the 6-course Nike IRM Golf experience which operates on the 6 former Polaris resort courses.
This challenging course imitates another Nicklaus Design course in Las Vegas, and the desert theme is immediately apparent through the vegetation and layout of the holes. Another feature which catches the eye is the undulations on both fairways and greens, which fill even the simplest looking approach with problems as a poor chip can leave a very interesting putt! Experts talk of “protruding pimples” and green designs which seem to come from the work of Picasso, and the end result is a type of course with which few golfers will be familiar.
The course is fairly long at 6,473 metres (7,079 yards) from the white tees, 5,952 metres (6,498 yards) from the yellow and 4,914 metres (5,374 yards) from the red, and on many holes rather than bunkers there are desert-style dunes.
At the centre of the resort is a huge manmade lake which comes into play on both the 9th and the 18th, presenting further opportunities to ruin a good round at the last! The 18th is a par three with the lake on your right and a sharp gully running across the green, while on the 9th avoid any hint of draw on your second shot or you’ll be reaching for another ball.
To get to the clubhouse, take the right-hand fork at the first roundabout after the entry gate and go straight on at the second. The clubhouse is on your right just before the restaurant and commercial premises at the centre of the resort.
Reservations can be made on 0034 638 612797 or 0034 968 041765. There are complete clubhouse facilities including buggy hire, driving range, practice green, showers, changing rooms, etc. Golf lessons are also available.
