Alhama de Murcia celebrates success of first Real Madrid Foundation Campus
135 local children took part in the week-long programme at the José Kubala Sports Complex and enjoyed a week of high-quality football training sessions

Alhama de Murcia Town Council officially closed the first-ever Real Madrid Foundation Campus. Throughout the week-long training camp, 135 children took part in the programme at the José Kubala Sports Complex, enjoying an experience that included plenty of football, teamwork and of course some summer fun.
The closing ceremony was attended by Alhama de Murcia Mayor Rosa Sánchez, Real Madrid Foundation ambassador and former footballer Ricardo Gallego, as well as representatives of the Real Madrid Foundation, local councillors, coaches, trainers, families and participants.
Mayor Rosa Sánchez spoke about the significance of Alhama hosting the camp for the first time and expressed the council's intention to work towards bringing it back in future years.
“Bringing the Real Madrid Foundation Campus to Alhama de Murcia was not easy, but the results show that the effort was worthwhile. We wanted to offer children a different kind of experience, where sport could help teach values such as respect, teamwork, solidarity and hard work, which are important both on and off the pitch,” she said.
She also thanked the Real Madrid Foundation for placing its trust in Alhama de Murcia, Grupo Fuertes for its support, the coaches and trainers for their work, and the families for their confidence in the project.
“The fantastic response encourages us to continue working to ensure the campus returns to our municipality very soon,” she added.
Real Madrid Foundation ambassador Ricardo Gallego thanked the town council, Grupo Fuertes, coaches, volunteers and families for their involvement, stressing that the purpose of the campus goes beyond football training.
As a commemorative gift marking the first Real Madrid training camp in Alhama de Murcia, Mayor Sánchez presented Gallego with a watercolour painting by local artist José María Cánovas Vera on behalf of the Town Council.
All available places on the campus were filled, allowing local children to spend a week learning, making friends and taking part in physical activities based on the Real Madrid Foundation's educational methodology, which places values at the heart of everything it does. The strong response has helped establish the campus as part of Alhama de Murcia's summer sports programme and reinforces the council's commitment to supporting grassroots sport, healthy lifestyles and the overall development of children.
