Book your springtime break at La Encarnación tourist apartments on the seafront in Los Alcázares
Local fiestas, the sunniest climate in Europe and plenty of golf opportunities with front line beach accommodation on the shore of the Mar Menor
As March begins there is a definite feeling that the weather is turning in the Costa Cálida after a wet, windy and rainy January and February, so with the Easter holidays just around the corner it may be time to start thinking about a springtime break – and where better to enjoy a little warmth than on the shore of the Mar Menor?
The La Encarnación tourist apartments in Los Alcázares are in prime front line position, literally a few seconds’ walk from the sand and the perfect place to leave the stress of daily life behind and stroll along the seafront. You won’t be lacking places to stop off for a coffee or a bite to eat as bars and restaurants are open all year round (unlike some seaside towns, which seem to close down almost entirely outside the busy summer months), and the bustling community in Los Alcázares means there are plenty of opportunities to stock up on local produce if you fancy cooking in your apartment!
In addition, there are loads of things to do in the area around Easter. Los Alcázares, like most places on the shore of the Mar Menor, doesn’t go in for the solemn Easter processions which take place further inland, preferring instead to hold their annual Berber Pirate Raids fiestas. In 2026 the big dates are 2nd to 5th April, with attractions featuring parades, a huge medieval market, live music and all kinds of street entertainment – not exactly religious, but having grown in size only over the last couple of decades Los Alcázares is not as steeped in the traditions of centuries past as many other places in Murcia.
On the other hand, if you do fancy experiencing the traditional Easter parades, the major cities of Cartagena and Murcia are just 25 and 40 minutes away respectively by car, and both of them are of course worth a visit at any time of year!
On the other hand, if your idea of a break is to get active and enjoy a bit of sporting action, then the area around Los Alcázares is a haven for lovers of water sports. Why not try your hand at sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding… with the calm water of the lagoon just a couple of metres from your doorstep, you’ll never have a better chance!
And for golfers, this area is a real paradise. Within just a short drive you can get to about a dozen courses, the closest being those of Roda Golf, Mar Menor Golf Resort and La Serena (all under 15 minutes) while perhaps the best known are those at La Manga Club half an hour away. This is the heart of Murcia golf country and also very near the courses of the southern Costa Blanca – take your pick and enjoy a little sunny springtime golf!
Whatever your preferences, you’ll love your break in Los Alcázares, so make sure you’ve got the best-priced accommodation in the perfect location and book in at La Encarnación tourist apartments at guaranteed lowest prices simply by quoting “MURCIA TODAY” when making your reservation!

Affordable beach front accommodation in the heart of Murcia golf and water sports country!
The accommodation offered for rental by Apartamentos La Encarnación in the heart of Los Alcázares are a great opportunity for visitors to the Costa Cálida to enjoy the very best of the Mar Menor and surrounding area all year round, and at extremely affordable prices.
Guests are accommodated in the apartments located on the seafront next to the historic Hotel La Encarnación, which was built in the early 20th century to cater for the emerging spa tourism market and is now the oldest hotel still open in the Region of Murcia. This area remains much favoured by expats from the UK and other northern European countries and all of the apartments are a short stone’s throw of the Mar Menor, the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe, making these true front-line beach properties!
Most of them have two bedrooms and can comfortably sleep 4, while 1- and 3-bedroom options are also available, and special year-round discount prices are available for readers of Murcia Today and associated pages by simply quoting the reference “MURCIA TODAY” when booking! (65€ for 1-bed, 85€ for 2-bed, 115€ for 3-bed, all prices per night).
All apartments are fully equipped with electrical appliances, kitchenware, bathroom and bed linen, and although they are self-catering guests often prepare to eat out locally at extremely affordable prices – Los Alcázares is not one of those beach resorts which closes down for the off season, and most restaurants are open all year round both in the town centre and in Los Narejos.
At the same time, they are within a short drive of at least 25 golf courses, right in the heart of Costa Cálida golf country and only slightly further from the southern Costa Blanca. The most prestigious courses are arguably those at La Manga Club and Hacienda del Álamo (both around half an hour by car) while the closest are those of La Serena, Mar Menor Golf Resort and Roda Golf, all just a 10-minute drive away. If you venture just slightly further north the options include Lo Romero, Villamartín, Las Ramblas and Las Colinas, all providing stiff challenges for all levels of golfer!
But don’t imagine that the sporting activities in the area are limited to golf! The calm waters and prevailing breezes in the Mar Menor make for ideal conditions in which to learn water sports, including sailing and kiteboarding, and plenty of aquatic sports centres are available along the inland shore of the lagoon all year round for those wishing to try their hand at mastering the seas!
Whatever your preferences while visiting the Mar Menor area, the La Encarnación apartments in Los Alcázares and Los Narejos give you a comfortable, practical and affordable place to stay while enjoying the many delights of the Costa Cálida!
