Camposol D Gardening and Community Group seeking new President and Treasurer
Have you got what it takes to lead the group or organise its finances? If so read on..
Camposol D Sector Gardening and Community Group is planning its Annual General Meeting in October. The association has grown and developed over the past years and seeks to continue this growth and in particular build on the good relationships with the Town Hall and local councillor built up this year. With this aim in mind, the group is looking to recruit two senior posts to lead and direct the association. This is a good time to play your part in growing and developing sector D and "making a difference".
After 5 years as President of D Gardening and Community Group, Pat Ridler is standing down as President. The group is therefore looking to appoint a new President of the association. This is an important role as you will lead and direct the association. Leading the management team, you will build on the work of the association, by improving the environment on D and building a strong community spirit. You will be the voice of the association, working with other groups and the Town Hall and manage a team of volunteers providing a range of services on D.
The person will have experience of leading and developing a small- to medium-sized organisation, ideally not for profit. To discuss the role in more detail with the current committee and to apply, please contact sectordphone@gmail.com. Applications close on Wednesday October 9.
The association is also looking to appoint a new Treasurer. Again a key role in the association. Part of the management team with responsibilities for producing monthly and annual accounts, managing and banking cash, maintaining our asset register and purchasing.
The person will have experience of book-keeping, working with Excel spread sheets and invoicing and receipting. A financial management system is in place and the new Treasurer will receive training on the system. But this is not the full story as you will be a key decision maker within the management committee. Shaping and forming sector D in terms of people and place.
If you wish to apply and to have a discussion about the role with the current committee please contact sectordphone@gmail.com.
Please note applicants for both posts must either be a member of the association or commit to becoming a member. Applications close on Wednesday October 9.

Making a better environment on Camposol D
The Camposol D Community and Gardening Group was originally formed in March 2009 by the residents of D sector to improve and provide a better environment for the residents and visitors to the Community of ‘D Sector’.
Membership of the group soon gathered pace and it was necessary to provide a way to communicate what was happening within the Camposol D Community and Gardening group, so that the members, volunteers and residents were made aware of what was happening within the Community (not all members live here permanently).
Social events
Each year a range of events are provided for residents such as the D Street Party, one of the largest events on Camposol with over 150 residents from all sectors attending and The Summer Ball, the most popular events on the D group’s calendar. Not forgetting the Carol service to provide that festive feel to D Sector
Improvement and Maintenance
Throughout the past years there have been many projects completed, this is thanks to the volunteers and generosity of the public donations that have been provided to the group (all work is funded by donations, without this support they could not fund any of the work).
The Group meet every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday for a few hours to carry out gardening, weeding or any projects necessary.
The Monday team maintains the verges and garden areas along Calle Esparraguera and Frangulas.
The Wednesday team responsible for the upkeep of the Memorial garden, Cross and gateway areas at the entrance to D, the Lone garden.
The Sunday team is the first of the local team to be established and maintain the verges at the top of Avenida de los Covachos. It is planned to launch more local groups going forward.
Due to the high temperatures of the summer months, there is no gardening activity as such, but they have established 2 watering teams to help maintain the planted areas around D Sector. As with everything they do, the achievements are subject to available volunteers on the day, and are constantly trying to recruit more people to assist.
The group is free to join and is open to any home owner who is resident or non resident of Camposol D Sector, or any long term property renter on D sector. Application to join is via the website. Members, whether resident or not, can ask for projects to be completed via the 'project request' form on the website. All D Sector events are open to anyone on any sector of Camposol.
Funding
The prime source of funding is through the weekly bucket collection at the D group hut at the boundary between C and D sector. The bucket collection is open from 9.30 to 11.00 am each Friday. Once a month a bucket collection is held to fund projects, again at the D hut from 9.00 to 10.30 am.
