Cartagena offers 6 gastro-activities to learn about local food and drink specialities
Cheese, coffee, artisan beer and liqueurs are among the products featured in the list of Cartagena gastro-experiences!
Within the gastronomic tourism package put together by the regional tourist board of Murcia under the title “1,001 sabores de la Región de Murcia” the municipality of Cartagena offers six activities through which both visitors and residents can get to know more about local specialities from coffee to cheese!
The range of visits presented on Thursday by Mayoress Noelia Arroyo is designed to appeal to all tastes, adding to a list of similar “gastro-experiences” which already includes 48 options in the municipalities of Lorca, Murcia, Caravaca de la Cruz, Águilas, Mazarrón, San Pedro del Pinatar, Yecla, Jumilla, Calasparra, Bullas, Cieza, Mula, Alhama de Murcia, Pliego, Abarán, Blanca, Villanueva del Río Segura, Ojós, Lorquí and Santomera.
The six in Cartagena are the following, and anyone interested can register to take part here.
The botany and wild plants of the Campo de Cartagena: this activity is run by biologist Lola Munuera in Galifa and ends with the tasting of a salad made from wild plants.
A family-run farm in Pozo Estrecho: visit the Finca la Yerbera and find out about the making of goat cheese, following the process from the farm to the plate!
Artisan beers at Cavanna Brewpub in La Aljorra: A tour of the brewery ends with a tasting of six beers, rounding off a 3-hour visit.
The real café asiático at CaféLab in Cartagena: This is a Saturday morning experience with a professional barista showing the secrets of one of the best-known local specialities of Cartagena.
Licor 43, Spain’s favourite liqueur: a tour of the Licor 43 factory in Los Camachos, alongside the motorway to La Manga, including tasting!
The cheeses of Sabores de Tallante in the west of the municipality of Cartagena: Another Saturday morning activity to learn about the production of these delightfully tangy cheeses. The visit lasts one hour.
