Have fun and keep fit with new Camposol sports group
New “Camposol Free Community Sports” group set up for all ages and fitness levels to exercise and have some fun
If you are interested in a bit of fitness, fun, and socialising then head for one of the group’s events or get togethers and try out some of the fun games arranged on a regular basis, you will find the event schedule on the group facebook page of the same name.
Think you are too old or infirm?
Many of the members would consider themselves the wrong side of 65 and some have a few medical issues but most are experiencing improved fitness levels and new social interactions since the group started, with the chance to make new friends and partake in some of the sports: if you’re not sure come and watch before you give it a try!
Events include, walking netball, rounders, walking football, pétanque, local interesting walks, paddle boarding in the summer and for the winter a couple of hours of playing board games and socialising at a local bar.
The group recently hosted a Pétanque knock out tournament on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Almost 40 people were there and eight teams fought it out for the coveted petanque cup and medals. The gold medal winners were (Team) “F.A.D.”, silver medals winners were “Las Chicas”, bronze medal winners were “Six Shiny Balls” and the wooden spoons went to the “Silent Assassins”. (There are rumours that the partners of “Las Chicas” have buried their medals somewhere in the back gardens because the medal winners were bragging too much!)
The event went off with lots of jovial chatter and the group organisers were delighted to have reached their goal of creating “a fun and sociable event”.
Over the winter and spring there are plans for more indoor and outdoor events so keep an eye out for more announcements.
The group are working closely and are supported by Camposol D Sector Community & Gardening Group and look forward to a good working relationship with them. The sports group are also working with the Camposol 2025 group on ideas for more community accessible facilities around the urbanisation.
The organisers sent a big thank you to the local company sponsors and those individuals who have donated various pieces of equipment and board games to help get the fun started.
The sporting events take place at the Council football facility on Calle Nogales, Sector D, Camposol and the multi sports area on Condado de Alhama.
Don’t forget, join the Camposol Free Community Sports Page on facebook or look for one of the event flyers at the shops and bars. Give it a try, you never know it may open up a whole new world of fun, fitness and socialising.
