Search continues for missing Mazarrón man after a house fire in La Atalaya
Emergency services are searching the area around La Atalaya, after a 56-year-old man was reported missing following a house fire that destroyed part of the property

Emergency crews are continuing the search for a 56-year-old man from La Atalaya, a district of Mazarrón, who has been missing since Tuesday May 5, following a house fire in the area.
According to sources from the Guardia Civil, emergency teams searched the burned house but were unable to find the gentleman who has been identified as Ramón Fuentes Andreu. The search is now continuing in the surrounding area.
It was Ramón's brother who raised the alarm after learning about the fire at the property in La Atalaya. He told firefighters that his brother had planned to spend the night there, but despite repeatedly trying to contact him, he could not reach him.
His account led firefighters to bring in equipment to clear rubble and search inside the house. The fire left the property badly damaged, causing internal collapse and the roof to fall in.
However, Tuesday's search of the house produced no trace of Ramón, with firefighters only recovering the remains of a dog from inside. Officers from the Guardia Civil and Local Police are continuing their efforts to establish Ramón’s whereabouts.

Spain's National Missing Persons Centre has now added his photograph to its missing persons database. Ramón is 1.65 metres tall, weighs around 70 kilos, and is 56 years old. The last time he was seen, on Monday afternoon, he was wearing grey tracksuit trousers, a grey jacket, and black trainers.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the emergency services on 112, the Policía Local de Mazarrón on 968 591 496, or the Guardia Civil in Puerto de Mazarrón on 968 594 103.
