Storms and hail in the north, sun and heat for the south: Murcia weekend weather forecast June 19-22

This weekend’s weather forecast is for rainy, stormy and windy conditions up in the northern mountains of Murcia, but everyone else should have a nice time of it

Murcia weather forecast, Thursday June 19

The weather alerts continue in the Region of Murcia for part of this weekend, with the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) continuing to warn of the risk of storms and heavy rainfall in the north, even as temperatures threaten to reach up to 38ºC in central Murcia.

On Thursday June 19, locally heavy thundery showers are expected in the north of the Region, possibly accompanied by very strong gusts of wind. The skies will be “mostly clear or partly cloudy”, becoming more overcast in the afternoon, bringing the “risk of thunderstorms in the northwest and the Altiplano, some of which could be locally heavy,” which has prompted Aemet to issue yellow weather alerts for these northern areas from 12pm to 10pm for the chance of up to 15mm of rainfall per hour.

Friday 20 brings a similar pattern, with the chance of locally heavy thunderstorms in the northwest and potentially very strong gusts. Just the northwestern part of Murcia remains on yellow weather alert between 2pm and 10pm for heavy rainfall and storms that could even be “accompanied by hail”. Everyone else in the Region should actually have quite a nice, sunny and calm day.

For Saturday 21, the weather alerts have been deactivated and the forecast is for mostly fair conditions with some high cloud arriving in the afternoon. In the northern mountain areas, cloud will build during the day and could bring occasional showers or thunderstorms in the northwest, but temperatures will remain steady or rise slightly and winds will generally be light, coming from the southeast.

Finally, Sunday 22 will be much more settled, with mostly clear or partly cloudy skies and temperatures expected to stay around the same level – about 20-21ºC at the coolest part of the night and up to 30-34ºC along the southern coast during the day and 35-37ºC inland.
