The beaches in Cartagena have received more distinctions and quality awards than any other municipality in Spain and include both Mediterranean and Mar Menor beaches.

There are more than 80 beaches and coves in the municipality, ranging from vast, sandy Mediterranean coastal beaches on la Manga del Mar Menor, calm golden beaches on the interior coastline of the Mar Menor, tiny rocky coves accessible only by boat to sandy fishing coves on the Mediterranean coastline.
