The number of beachside Blue Flags in Águilas rises to 12 in 2026
Águilas is now the third most decorated town in the whole of Spain!
Águilas The town and municipality of Águilas has been awarded 152 of the coveted Blue Flags this year in recognition of the quality of its beaches and other summer facilities, overtaking Cartagena and leading the way among the eight coastal municipalities of the Costa Cálida.
This is something of a feather in the municipality’s proverbial cap and is due to the flags awarded last year being maintained and the reinstatement on the list of the beaches of La Higuerica and La Carolina. In addition, the beach of El Hornillo has been added to the distinctions.
The other beaches listed are those of Las Delicias, Levante, La Colonia, Poniente, Casica Verde, Matalentisco and Calarreona, while the marinas of Club Náutico de Águilas and Puerto Deportivo Juan Montiel are also included once again.
As a result Águilas is now the third most decorated town in the whole of Spain, behind only Vigo and Sanxenxo, with Cartagena not far behind with nine beach awards and two marina awards. In addition, the Region of Murcia has had its best ever year for Blue Flag awards, with 41 flags heading to the Region for 2026, five more than last year.
